How Ranking Works

Valorant has nine ranks. Each rank except Radiant has three tiers, for 25 steps in total. Your visible rank moves with Rank Rating (RR), while a hidden Matchmaking Rating (MMR) decides how much RR each win or loss is worth.

From the lowest tier up to Ascendant 3, you promote when you reach 100 RR and demote if you lose at 0 RR. Entering the first tier of a rank grants two Rank Shields, each of which stops one drop into the rank below.

Immortal and Radiant use regional RR thresholds instead of a 100 RR bar, and Radiant also requires a place among the top 500 players in your region.
